Climbing and Scrambling in the Gore Range 1 month agoI just came across this post – the Orphan Boy cabin, built in the 1890s, lies high up on Keller. 3 rooms, stove, left open for all by the Cooper family.

Climbing and Scrambling in the Gore Range: 7 months, 1 week agoThe ridge from Peak Z extending east is nice and has nothing beyond easy Class 3. Peak X is deeper in and I think there is a short harder section (easy 4) on the ridge from X to Y. The Peak Z link at
<> has images of the Z area in snow season. -

Climbing and Scrambling in the Gore Range: 7 months, 2 weeks agoI am new to Frisco, but an old fan of ENW. Would love to meet you guys and team up for a hike or climb. I’ve done a few solo hikes the past couple of weeks. My 2 sons are coming out next week. We have a backpack trip planned to Upper Boulder and beyond. Any words of advice for a 3-4 class climb? Thanks so much.

Climbing and Scrambling in the Gore Range: 11 months, 3 weeks agoHey Kevin, long time no talk! 12 years ago – that’s amazing. 8:26 – Is the small lake just on the south side of Boomer Pass, very close to Peak “I”. 10:11 – Yes, that’s Bubble Lake. Climbing and Scrambling in the Gore Range: 1 year agoI worked in the Gore for Outward Bound as an instructor in the late 70′s. Would like to return and bring my grown daughters. Anything much changed? Any particular restrictions on camping? Is OB still there?

Hi Craig,
Welcome back. Did you ever visit Bulah Walls, who had a little ranch on Pebble Crrek (just north of Rock Creek)? We have had a cabin up there since 1973. If you visited back then, you should come back some time. We are the highest cabin in the valley (which had 6 houses then, about 30 now).
Best wishes,
Bill Betz
