Scrambling on "East Thorn"

(above) Scrambling near the summit of "East Thorn".  "East Thorn" is an impressive and prominent sight from Silverthorne but also a rarely climbed peak.  The approach to camp is fairly long, about 7 miles one-way to Salmon Lake.  Beyond the lake, a difficult, boulder-strewn, and sometimes class-3 cirque must be negotiated before getting to the west ridge.  The west ridge is a 3rd and sometimes 4th class scramble (as shown in the photo).
