(Above) Here's a rarely seen view of "The Spider" (the prominent peak on the left) taken two days after the early September 2001 snowstorm. The snow postponed a major hike in the Gores but gave us the opportunity to explore the western ridge bordering Upper Piney Valley. This shot was taken near "Piney Bristles", a small peak that's just at 12,080 feet high.
