What was the route like? I always wanted to do this one, but the one time I went there to do it, it was too melted out. Needs to be done before July, I think.

Incredible! We did the Corner Group from Pitkin mid-June 2010. First route was the E. Couloir on E. Corner (Take the one almost at the saddle w/ Powell- profile pic is from that gully). The descent from East is a little tricky to find a good line. From there we just picked our way over over the other Corners to Meridian and back to the TH. 2 ~1,000 ft. snow climbs(and 5 summits) in a day isn’t easy to come by. The hardest part was the return to the TH. The valley west of Meridian wasn’t melted out so it was a slog/slushfest back to the TH. 14 hour day and nothing exceeded Class 3 if I remember right.

Minor correction, we started at Piney. As Scot said, the descent from East Corner was the tricky part. It didn’t look like the ridge crest was going to go for us, so we descended a while until we found a snow covered gully we could use to get to the base of Corner where a second 1000 foot snow climb provided passage to the summit. A great double snow climb route!

Pitkin, Piney… it’s all the same, right? Nice catch Mike. That would be a heck of a day trip from Pitkin.
