Mother Nature was much more supportive yesterday compared to last Thursday. The Grand Traverse was a blast. The terms ”airy 4th class crux” and ”interesting down climb” were well defined in the later section of the traverse (North to South). I love this stuff.

I heard it was all you could eat pancakes and bacon on top of peak c from 7am to 8am. I arrived at the summit at 7am. No pancakes. No bacon. There was a rather plump Pica. Great day to be in the Gore Range.

Nice day around Peak C. Snow was not safe for climbing. 6”+ new insulating 2’+ old saturated. No freeze. Post holes up to my nuts climbing cooler on SW ridge. Rollers started showering down around 7:30. Decided to live to climb another day. Looped down and around to check out falls from C basin tarns.

Climbing and Scrambling in the Gore Range: 1 year, 3 months agoBoy, that’s a good question. One good idea might be setting up a camp above the graves on the Gore Creek trail towards Red Buffalo Pass. Great options: Red Peak, Red Buffalo Pass, Gore Lake, Snow Lake, Snow Peak, Hail, Zodiac View, Willow, East Thorn, Zodiac Spires, etc, etc. I’m a big fan of the [...]

Anybody been up and in the Gore Range in the last week or so?

Hi Jim,
We’re away on holiday for another week. But I noticed that the snow depth at the Rock Creek Snotel station on January 5 was the lowest for that date in the history of record-keeping at the site – dating back 32 years.See http://www.sgrhoa.net/snowpublic.htm
Aloha,
Bill

Not much info from my end but was wondering if you need a partner? The ridge looks amazing! Been messing around in there for a few years but mostly solo. Looking for some people to explore with. Just wondering
