Climbing and Scrambling in the Gore Range: 1 year, 8 months ago · Viewi have yet to do any technical climbing in the Gore, however, it is a major goal of mine to do so this summer. I have heard rumors of bolted routes near Pitkin Lake that the Vail Climbing Club of the 80’s put up. My question is, has anyone done the full Grand Traverse ridge?
Oh interesting…bolted routes near Pitkin lake. Looking at the pics of mine of this area, I’m not sure where that would be. Are they all single pitch stuff? Most likely, I suppose. Would be cool if you could hunt these down. Wonder if the bolts are ratty and dangerous by now.
As for Grand Traverse, I am not sure. I think it has been done, but not sure by whom. It looks awfully jagged, full of gendarmes, like it would make for quite a tedious traverse.
I wonder who all has done the north face of Peak ”C”. Wonder if that’s any good (for the Gores). Looks like it could be loose and potentially dangerous due to rockfall, but I haven’t gotten close enough to it to really judge.
